REDIRECT is an NPA-funded project that addresses the environmental impact of increasing tourism in the Northern Periphery and Arctic (NPA) region by promoting regenerative tourism—an approach that goes beyond reducing harm to actively restoring and improving environmental, cultural, and economic resources. The project works to introduce and integrate regenerative practices and preventive strategies before overtourism becomes an issue, creating capacity-building, strategic, and marketing solutions in cooperation with both public and private sectors.
Olemisen Balanssia ry leads establishing a framework for regenerative tourism integration, as well as communication and quality management. Its tasks include carrying out local tourism state-of-the-art analyses, identifying and sharing best practices, preparing capacity-building materials, and leading EU-level campaigns to encourage regenerative tourism.
